Wisp of a Wimple

knitting devil
I've had this Wisp pattern in my folder for over a year and have just finished the first one, (cast on a couple of weeks ago) in 4ply Posh Yarn in the most wonderful colours I've ever worked. There's a whole range of dark shades of autumn purples, burnished gold, and orange. It's in the blocking stage but I just had to share. The flash has bleached out some of the glorious glowing ochre and burgundy.
I have some lovely oval wooden buttons that will transform this into a versatile garment; it's a lacy wrap, a wimple, or a hooded scarf.

Wisp on the blocking wires

The close-up shows the detail of the fish-net lace pattern. This is such an easy, fast knit. All garter stitch and a few rows of YO and K2TOG. 15 rows of easily memorised pattern is repeated 17 times. I added two more repeats because I couldn't bear to cast off.

ETA Pics of finished wimple. Colours are closer to the real thing. Would you believe it needs blocking again? The lace has closed up, although the length is way too long. PErhaps I shouldn't have added those extra 30 rows.

Thank you. I've added some more pics showing the colour better. Also showing that the lace needs blocking again. It's closed up widthwise and maybe needs a steam blocking.

It came out way too long (perhaps a result of the extra rows). If I do it in 4ply again, I'll do less repeats and perhaps cast on more stitches for a wider wrap.

Thanks. I fell in love with the colours online and had to have a skein.

Your skill had something to do with it, too ;)

Beautiful, both the pattern and the colours of the yarn.

Thank you so much. I think this is the most beautiful yarn I have ever worked.
