Do you know what's going on? Because I'm having problems. - Kurt Vonnegut Jr

I'm fairly pleased with the trimming of silk and organza that I added to the wedding hat yesterday.

The first picture is better for colour. I kept the navy blue ribbon and removed the bow then added flowers in white and pale blue organza with pale blue silk flowers (to match the dress), with pearl beads on the stamens. The leaves are a darker blue to bring together the colour of the hat and flowers. The brim is a little deformed but an inexpensive charity shop hat with added trimming is looking good enough for a wedding.

The hat looks smashing! Aren't you clever!

I adore hats and am amazed at how you've made this look a million dollars.

Thank you. I was quite pleased with the result. It was all in getting the colour and texture of the flowers righ. The rest was a doddle - just sew them into place.

Could you see me at Ascot in this?

It looks lovely. How clever of you to be able to decorate yourself. I love hats like that with broad brims.

Thank you. It was all in getting the colour and texture of the flowers right. Putting it together was relatively easy - much to my great relief.

Hat gorgeous .. and the dress??? .. can we see that please?

Dress went up a couple of entries back here. Hadn't found the shoes then, and the hat wasn't finished.

Neat! And I have to say, I love that you're recycling in ways that most of us forget are possible

Thank you. I hate nice things going to waste. Someone had obviously bought the hat for a special occasion, worn it once and given it to the charity. I really didn't want to spend a lot of money on a similar purchase which I'll probably not use again.

Though I might keep it as a reminder of the day.

The hat looks lovely now. Just tell everyone you bought it in Harrods! They'll never know the difference.

Thank you. I am rather proud of the way it turned out and would love to have made the whole thing from scratch.

That has turned out really well!

I was very pleasantly surprised at how easily it all came together.
