Water flowing underground
same as it ever was
The nice thing about meditation is that it makes doing nothing quite respectable.

Meditation Buddah
Unfortunately, I have little time for either meditation or doing nothing. We've embarked on the project of refurbishing my study-bedroom. The carpet is as old as the house(built in 1961).

  • Step 1: Clear the room; among other things this involves cataloging all books before storing them somewhere else. I started this morning and am still in the middle of doing that. I have three piles. I know I have to give some away to charity but I can't bear the choosing) Then there's the emptying of the filing cabinet and shredding old bank statements (they go back to 2001), clearing the wardrobe and storing clothes that don't hit the charity bag somewhere else, dismantling the PC storage unit and finding somewhere for PC and printer to live.
  • Step 2: Take curtains down and clean. Cover remaining furniture (bed, bookcase, stationery cupboard) and floor with protective dust sheets, scrub walls and ceiling, paint ceiling and walls.
  • Step 3: Order new flooring and schedule fitter to remove carpet, and lay new flooring.
  • Step 4: Order new built-in storage (sliding doors) to hold PC, clothes, files, and books and schedule fitting after new floor is done.
  • Step 5: Move everything back in.

Maybe I should do some more meditating?

I'm beginning to flag. More meditation is needed.

I think that I need to go and lie down just thinking about it.

Looking at this project reminds me that we have to do a similar thing - promised the girls they could move bedrooms so we have to clear the large spare room, decorate, move older daughter in, decorate her old room, move younger daughter in, make tiny bedroom new spare room.

I think you'll be finished with your room a lot more quickly and efficiently - and I'll join you in your meditating. Hopefully we'll get to see the result of all your hard work.

You have a much more complicated logistical problem on your hands.

I shiver just reading Step 1 to 5 - good luck with the project - have fun.

On Friday 2nd Jan. I put my washing machine (1o years and 3 months old) on and two hours later to my dismay my bathroom was flooded - repair man comes on Monday, I shiver, because, I know the answer - new machine.

    I'm beginning to flag!

Hope the washing machine just needs a door-seal replacement or a de-gunk of the trap.

I opened the trap, which I often do, but, this time I did not close the trap completely and so the flood. The mechanic said in future I should not open the trap unless the machine gives me the sign to do so. Hope the preparations are going to plan. Love N.
