and belated birthday greetings to spikereader

Hope you are all having a wonderful day with many many more to come.

Still not in France. The good news is that the problem with Loony GDS's mouth is not cancer, is healing nicely, and, providing we protect it daily with something like vaseline, she is allowed to swim.

The bad news is that the weather (mad thundery rainstorm this morning after days of humid heat) , financial arrangements, and the low exchange rate against the Euro will delay our takeoff until at least next week.

Still. It means I was around when the good news about JM hit the boards,

I missed your post(s) mentioning that Loony was having problems (*kicks self*), but I'm so glad to hear that she is doing better.

Thank you for the Birthday wishes. It's been a fabulous day with terminator-stout-chocolate cake covered in raspberry sauce.

I have friends coming over, and then I'm going into a stupor for the rest of the week!

Stupor sounds good. Must do some more mindless knitting.

If you are looking for things to knit, you might be interested in Booties for Bears, used for Malayan Sunbears that have been rescued from bile farms.

http://www.kqed.org/quest/files/BearBooties.pdf

The Animals Asia Foundation (www.animalsasia.org), a Hong Kong-based charity is asking for booties that can be used during surgery to keep the extremities warm. Warning--if you go to their site they have some disturbing pictures of the bears in the conditions they suffer--some of them for more than 20 years.

Thanks for the warning. I couldn't bear (pun, sorry!)to visit that website at the moment. I'm looking for really mindless knitting (knit knit knit nkit - new row perl, perl, perl, perl )and booties are definitely too challenging (one of the reasons I stopped embroidery)

I have several odd-looking throws that came from the need for mindless needlework (crochet in my case). They're warm enough to be useful on cold nights.

Knit, knit away, and I hope you days get brighter soon.
