Thank you so much for sharing these.

Thank you for viewing. I have kept a photo journal since we took the boat to France in 2000. Without it, events would be mis-remembered and places confused with one another.

I'm already itching to get back but MWNN says I'm not recovered enough and the weather is lousy.

You always take such beautiful pictures. I still think you should do some kind of book! If you don't want to do the memoir thing, then something like Spike's Guide to Cruising just to make it different. ;)

I popped the audiobook into the mail today. I forgot they had just raised the postage so the line was horrible with people waiting to buy 2-cent stamps. Fortunately, I got in just before the crowd hit.

Hope you are feeling positively chirpy.

If I did that, it'd be called 'Lock Keepers I have Known and Eaten'!

I've missed today's post, it being Wednesday half-closing day, but your book and CD are parcelled up and waiting for their stamps.

Beautiful and interesting. I have to ask (and I guess I should know this)...do you have a house or apartment somewhere, too?
30th-May-2007 09:46 am (UTC)
Thank you!

We have a house in England, just north of London.

I mean, I knew you didn't boat all year. What a wonderful life. I am so jealous! LOL

It's not all moonbeams and penny whistles living aboard - particularly in France.

The beginning of the long hot summer of 2003 cruise

I enjoyed your pics , Pat!

Thank you, Caroline. Picardy's not as classically romantic as the South, but we're finding it fascinating. I'm hoping to go back to cruise the Somme before MWNN gets down to the hard work of painting.

As someone now working in the Health and Safety field, the floating excavator filled me with horror!
30th-May-2007 08:45 pm (UTC)
That floating excavator was using the bucket arm to pull the platform along the canal. The excavator wasn't anchored to the platform and was rolling at an alarming rate.

Health and Safety is non-existant in France - the unions are still very strong and the only people who are bound by such regulations are 'them' e.g. the local mayor is responsible if someone has an accident as a result of dodgy paving. In some of the deeper locks we have used, there isn't an 'escape ladder' - if you fall in, you're dead as a dodo.

I know a magazine I could send that photo into. How sad is that?

It's funny that here the unions are very into H&S.

Thank you.

The great LJ kerfuffle has resulted in the slow delivery of comment notification.
