Birthday Bash

MWNN, Ron and I went into London yesterday to celebrate the 60th birthday of one of my school friends. There were some old fiends down from Manchester who MWNN and I had last seen in the Philharmonic Pub in Liverpool after an Incredible String Band Concert. Marie's brother drove over from Shropshire, and her nephew and neice and their children from Hertfordshire.

After much champagne and a buffet of produce from Marie's allotment, we were treated to a fireworks display. The neighbours to the right (The Freud Museum is on the left) had been warned and, as it is Divali, we weren't the only ones setting the sky alight.

Click through for the birthday set.

If it hadn't been for the fireworks, and Ron, I'm sure the grand-neice and nephew would have found the event somewhat boring. For me, it was a joy to meet up with old friends and acquaintances who are part of the tapestry that makes us who we are. (I stole that last idea from Marie who gave a sweet 'thank you' speech after the cake was cut.
