cruising log

From Louhans to Tournous

A thousand shades of green; balm for the psyche, all along the Seile and back. MWNN said the river was ,chocolate brown, yesterday, but it was definitely green,

No donkeys or ponies in the Monday market at Louhans, and, apart from some fine cheese and saucison sec, we couldn't find anything else that was on the shopping list.

We moored overnight at Cuisery again last night on our way back to the Saone. It's a lovely spot and affords lots of entertainment watching the hire boats trying to ,park, stern on in very strong winds. We locked down with a German crew this morning. One of them heard me yell to MWNN to stay with the boat once we were inside the lock chamber because he had set the lock and opened both gates alone while they hovered behind our boat in mid stream. Once the crew had understood what was required, they leqped ashore and helped close the back gates, open paddes and open front gates once we were safely down. As MWNN headed bqck dozn the lock ladder, they gave him a bottle of German wine by way of apology for the earlier faux pas.

We,re back in Tournous for the appointment with the audiomotrist tomorrow. We have just met a couple aboard an English broadbeam, from Hull. We're going aboard for drinks later this evening. ETA Drinks are cancelled, they just had bad news from their daughter in Canada.

MYFEETSHOWIT - I just finished chapter 7 and am keen to see who is the guide.

IRISHNOODLES - The German crew live over the other side of Munich from you.
