knitting sketch

I had planned to update with a report of how the lunch went today, but news reached me this morning of the death of a fellow-cruiser of the French Waterways. Bob multi-faceted Ozzie of quiet but searing wit. Suffering a range of debilitating diseases from A – Z, he nevertheless ignored medical advice and lived his last year to the full. I knew him for but a short time. G.M.Hopkin’s Heaven Haven seems a fitting wish for you Bob.

Heaven Haven

I have desired to go
Where springs not fail,
To fields where flies no sharp and sided hail
And a few lilies blow.

And I have asked to be
Where no storms come,
Where the green swell is in the havens dumb,
And out of the swing of the sea.
