Once more unto the breach

. . . . Follow your spirit; and, upon this charge
Cry ‘God for Harry! England and Saint George!’

We're following the spirit and are all packed ready to head Francewards tomorrow. I'm planning to buy lots of English newspapers at the Tunnel tomorrow to leave lying around in the hotels we use on the way to the boat.

The journey down to Burgundy will be at a leisurely pace and we may well decide upon two or three stopovers - depends how the mood takes us.

How long will we cruise? That again will depend on mood, and weather, and the French. No putting up with recalcitrant lock-keepers and poorly maintained facilities this year. One thing's for sure, we're going to enjoy being there in this bi-centennial year of Trafalgar, flying the red ensign and reminding those Frogs just who still rules the waves.

In the meantime, I'm off to cook a traditional English meal of liver and bacon with onion gravy and mashed spuds to celebrate London 2012 (stuff Chirac's ze Eeenglish food is terreebluh - he's obviously not heard of the revival of Great British Dishes - I wonder what his view of the Scots (and the auld alliance) will be after this G8 summit?)

Why do we have a narrowboat in France if we feel this way about the French? You haven't read the previous entry have you? Besides, France great country - shame about the French.
