Tune in to BBC3 tonight (if you receive it) for the splendid Peter O'Toole plays Cassanova in the new series starting at 10pm. Let's hope it's repeated on BBC terrestrial for those of you who will miss it.

Easter weekend sees the long-awaited return of Dr Who to BBC1.

And I bought the last copy of Sunday Telegraph with its free copy of Last Orders. The last time MWNN bought it, there was a free copy of Howards End.

That is all.

I could go into major rant mode about the fact we can't get digital.

But I won't.

It looks like it's going to be good, by the trailers.

Loking forward to Dr Who, although there will never be a Doctor as good as Tom Baker.

Hope you are well - you've been a quiet little devil of late...

Would you like me to tape Cassanova for you?

you've been a quiet little devil of late...
See my last Journal entry for reason. My brian exploded a number of times over the past week. Now it just aches. I want nothing more to do with technology for a while. I have a lot of catching up to do with Keep on Moving. You posted the penultimate chapter while I was away. I started reading the final part and realised I'd missed something - again.

Have you decided if you're going home after JM's concert at Islington? I'd quite like to go in on the Friday as there will be another CDS meet that night. I don't fancy going home alone and then back again on Saturday. But I need a roomie if I'm going to overnight, to share the cost.

I'm with you on the Baker-love. People have said he wasn't as edgy as other Doctors, but I always thought there was steel lurking beneath the eccentricity.

If you wouldn't mind taping Cassanova, I'd be very grateful! I'm sure they'll get round to showing in BBC2 at some stage, but I'd like to see the great O'Toole sooner rather than later!

Sorry about the brain explosion. I did read your posts, but being technically illiterate I hadn't any advice to give or words of wisdom to impart. Things like that just scare me silly.

As to JM's concert - have to say I hadn't thought about it yet. I'm not sure what gamiila is up to - there were vague mutterings but nothing concrete as she isn't going to the concert. But whatever - staying up in town is a sound plan, so yes please if you want a roomie. I'm sure G can sort something if she needs to.

Rub it in, why don't you?

And I suppose I had better get myself organised, hadn't I? Perhaps go for another spin on the London Eye?

Tom Baker is the one and only Doctor as far as I'm concerned (although I did also quite like Paul McGann in the 1999 one-off) -- he had the best adventures, and the best wardrobe. Plus, he could be quite scary if he wanted to be (the steel beneath the surface that you mentioned).
13th-Mar-2005 11:44 pm (UTC)
He certainly had the best hair.
14th-Mar-2005 07:23 am (UTC)
And the best voice...
14th-Mar-2005 01:32 pm (UTC)
And scarf.
14th-Mar-2005 02:46 pm (UTC)
Not to mention, best floppy hat.
14th-Mar-2005 02:59 pm (UTC)
Or the most creative use of sonic screwdriver.
13th-Mar-2005 05:29 pm (UTC)
I have thought about your background problem, and I have decided that what you really need is a header and a plain background. Otherwise it'll clash. Of course, I know bugger all about headers, so I'm still thinking.
13th-Mar-2005 05:47 pm (UTC)
And in plain English, this means . . . ?

I have thought about your background problem

I have a problem? I don't want anything fancy. Can't you just make the pic smaller to fit it into the side bar and put some water behind it for the remainder of the background?
13th-Mar-2005 07:23 pm (UTC)
Yeah, but I don't think it would look very nice.

If you have a header - a banner across the top with the picture and, say the title, then it would look a lot better. You might be able to get away with a water picture too then.
13th-Mar-2005 07:41 pm (UTC)
And I still am in the land of ignorance for I know not of what you speak, you blind me with your brilliance.

Point me at an example of a banner so that I know what you're talking about oh magnificent one.

There's an echo in here.

Re Casanova - the trailer looks good - only that the young Casanova looks so much like Harry Potter that it leaves me mind-boggled!
13th-Mar-2005 11:39 pm (UTC)
You mean the very young child? Have to admkit Harry Potter didn't spring to mind during the first pepisode. The script is good (and funny), the outside sets dreadful and {eter O'Toole is masterful (and heartbreaking). I taped it for Cass.
13th-Mar-2005 11:57 pm (UTC)
I didn't get around to watching - had to pick husband up from work, but I meant the young as in late teens/early twenties version - the one that says 'Casanova - of the family Casanova', and kisses the fat guy with the white face. He looks like a slightly older Harry Potter to me - I kind of expect him to suddenly whip out his glasses, or have an owl arrive with his love letters or something!
14th-Mar-2005 12:00 am (UTC)
He was less Harry-Potter-like than the clip suggested. That was a very early scene, before he aquired his street-cred.

14th-Mar-2005 08:50 am (UTC)
I really enjoyed it - thought the script was funny.

Apparently it is on BBC1 next month.
14th-Mar-2005 01:35 pm (UTC)
I enjoyed it too. I'll let Cass know that she can catch it on BBC1 next month. I'm meeting up with her for a JM concert on 30th and was going to pass on the taped version but perhaps there will be no need now.

BtW - I need to pick your brain about an OU-related matter. I'll give you a call. What time's best for you?
14th-Mar-2005 05:21 pm (UTC)
Between 7 and 8 is probably best - after Harry's gone to bed and before Eastenders. (sad, I know)
16th-Mar-2005 01:47 am (UTC)
It worked - thanks for your help - new lj design looks great.
16th-Mar-2005 03:03 pm (UTC)
Have you adopted that icon as your default pic?

Good choice.

Well done you on enabling those pesky cookies and thanks for the comment about the new layout. I still haven't worked out how to get a banner across the top. I want a bigger version of the boat-of-books icon up there instead of it being relegated to the user info page. I'm also not too happy with the way the comments display on the screen. It's often difficult to work out who's responding to whom.
16th-Mar-2005 03:15 pm (UTC) - oops indeed Gimli
Nearly forgot.

It's nuckle-rap time.

If you can manage the pesky cookies, you can certainly post an entry in your own LJ by using the email option. Don't give me the 'I don't have anything to say' crap either. That story about the black swans was LJ-worthy. Go here where you've ignored my plea for your pocketmail address for far too long. I need to set up your facility to post an entry while you're in France, so that I can coach you through the procedure. Of course, you're going to have to send it to me privately, along with your LJ password which I ate after you sent it last time.
16th-Mar-2005 06:03 pm (UTC) - oops again
Forgot to ask - can you still see the locked entries? This was a public one.
