What price a dog's life? For the cost of an Easter egg ......
3rd-Apr-2010 01:50 pm
Terrier's day off
The Terrier Rescue from which we adopted Ron is in dire financial straights. Much of the problem is down to the big-hearted folk who run the rescue and their inability to refuse to take in a dog that is due to be destroyed for no other reason than they have been abandoned by their owners.

The Recession had a terrible effect on the numbers of unwanted dogs knocking on the door of the rescue societies. Things are so bad that Battersea Dogs' Home has closed its doors to strays.

The latest rescue by Rescue Remedies is Tanya, a 1 year-old Parsons Jack Russel who was in the local dog pound having been found as a stray. No one claimed her and she was due to be destroyed, so Rescue Remedies stepped in to save her. You can see how painfully thin she is.

Rescue Remedies has been forced to place some of the dogs in kennels as there are not enough Fosterers on their books to keep up with demand. Kennel fees (even the tiny local ones that give the Rescue reduced rates) have outstripped the funds available.

Anyone who hasn't already bought an easter egg for someone - child or chocoholic  -  think again. If you are pretty sure they'll already have one from somebody, why not donate your 'egg money' to Rescue Remedies' Kennel Fund. Every little helps.

Watch Stanley's Video below and think about setting up a Standing Order donation, or offer to foster if you live in the S. East of England.Or better still, stop putting off that desire to have another dog in your life and go and see if there's one waiting just for you on Rescue Remedies' books.

I have such a soft spot for terriers. Grew up with a cairn that was the most evil and lovable terrier.

If i still lived in Cambridge, I would adopt Tanya in a heartbeat.

It took me a little while to recognise you under the new 'moniker'.

Tanya would be perfect for Cambridge. Did you hear - they just won this year's boatrace?

Seeing as I couldn't make Writers' Con this year I've donated the money to Rescue Remedies - I just couldn't resist it!

Though I popped over just to give you this link http://whichclothes.livejournal.com/200211.html?view=6054675#t6054675 seeing as how you like knitting. I hope you like it!

Cheers, Linda

I haven't, no. I've been meaning to catch up on events but keep forgetting. I shall have a look now.
