cherish friends
Quote for the Day
When the character of a man is not clear to you, look at his friends. Japanese Proverb

I needed a project for a planned ‘Knit-in’ for teaching beginners, so I had a go at making a pattern that would take me no more than 2 hours to complete.

I wore the finished demonstration model at the weekend. It matches the new cashmere jumper and provided warmth in the bare V of the neck when watching the birthday fireworks.

One-skein Christmas Scarf

Materials:
One skein chunky yarn (Creative Yarns Rainbow Multi (£3.50 a skein) pictured)
Needles: Size 6mm straight

This makes a scarf about five inches wide and 60 inches long, depending on the yardage of your chosen yarn.

Instructions:

Cast on 16 stitches.
Knit every row until you have about a yard of yarn left.
Cast off and weave in ends.

Pretty colours, and it knits up really nicely into those stripes. I think wool that does that is so clever. :D

I was really surprised at how well the yarn worked. I'd buy it again for a larger version, perhaps my 'superfast scarf' on Ravelry.
