and belated birthday greetings to spikereader

Hope you are all having a wonderful day with many many more to come.

Still not in France. The good news is that the problem with Loony GDS's mouth is not cancer, is healing nicely, and, providing we protect it daily with something like vaseline, she is allowed to swim.

The bad news is that the weather (mad thundery rainstorm this morning after days of humid heat) , financial arrangements, and the low exchange rate against the Euro will delay our takeoff until at least next week.

Still. It means I was around when the good news about JM hit the boards,

You may have bad weather but you've got a really big cheese machine over there.
17th-May-2008 07:30 pm (UTC)
Indeed!

Good news about the woofler, and about JM

Hope you get to France soon

Me too.

Excellent news about the dog! What a relief.

Hope the weather sorts itself out enough to get you to France soon!

Weather is set to be fair next week - but then it's half term and travelling to France is fraught.
15th-May-2008 02:16 pm (UTC)
Thank you :) That's good news about Loony GDS - I shall include her in my bouncing about all the other good news there has been today.
17th-May-2008 07:32 pm (UTC)
And it has been good.
15th-May-2008 07:29 pm (UTC)
Will you get to France this year at all? here's hoping for you.
17th-May-2008 07:32 pm (UTC)
Who knows?
15th-May-2008 07:33 pm (UTC)
Thanks for the birthday greetings, hun! *hugs*

Glad pooch is OK and how come the weather where I am is so blooming freezing?

Hope you get underway soon. *hugs*xxx

We'd better or I won't be back in time for Midimeet.
17th-May-2008 07:46 pm (UTC)
Yikes!
16th-May-2008 01:45 am (UTC)
I'm so glad Loony is ok!!!
17th-May-2008 07:33 pm (UTC)
Relief but also concern at how much she's declining.
16th-May-2008 03:58 am (UTC)
I missed your post(s) mentioning that Loony was having problems (*kicks self*), but I'm so glad to hear that she is doing better.

Thank you for the Birthday wishes. It's been a fabulous day with terminator-stout-chocolate cake covered in raspberry sauce.

I have friends coming over, and then I'm going into a stupor for the rest of the week!
17th-May-2008 07:34 pm (UTC)
Stupor sounds good. Must do some more mindless knitting.

If you are looking for things to knit, you might be interested in Booties for Bears, used for Malayan Sunbears that have been rescued from bile farms.

http://www.kqed.org/quest/files/BearBooties.pdf

The Animals Asia Foundation (www.animalsasia.org), a Hong Kong-based charity is asking for booties that can be used during surgery to keep the extremities warm. Warning--if you go to their site they have some disturbing pictures of the bears in the conditions they suffer--some of them for more than 20 years.
18th-May-2008 12:46 pm (UTC)
Thanks for the warning. I couldn't bear (pun, sorry!)to visit that website at the moment. I'm looking for really mindless knitting (knit knit knit nkit - new row perl, perl, perl, perl )and booties are definitely too challenging (one of the reasons I stopped embroidery)
18th-May-2008 10:48 pm (UTC)
I have several odd-looking throws that came from the need for mindless needlework (crochet in my case). They're warm enough to be useful on cold nights.

Knit, knit away, and I hope you days get brighter soon.
