I come bearing more graphical gifts with far less calories than chocolate eggs.

Teaser: 1: Don't you wish your old school hockey stick worked like that?

Then a 'still' followed by the gif with the great line Harry feeds Molly just before he teaches her a hard lesson.

I finally found some hockey stick action.

Nice! I haven't watched that yet, although xrayman informs me it isn't bad.

I've lost access to the TV show since Virgin Media lost Sky One. I think we watched the first three episodes or so and it was getting better and better.

I've been reading the books as they come out and people have sent me copies of the audio books. I plan to buy the TV show on DVD if it ever comes out.

I just can't seem to get worked up about it... not sure why. Mind you this cd set is so badly edited I'm starting to lose interest in them too. I much prefer the story to the last three, which I didn't enjoy at all, then everyone said this was better-- and it is, but the production values suck more.

eh. Unimpressed.

You're talking about the audio books? Summer Knight is the latest, with the 'blooper' in some copies? I much prefer reading the books, to be honest. James' voice gets in the way of the story for me. He's the first person I know who can 'testiculate' with his voice. Either that, or he sends me to sleep when I listen on the I-pod, and I miss whole chunks of the story.

JMs voice completely saved the last three for me, but he does send me to sleep. Takes me months to properly listen usually.

Everyone said to give the books a chance and they were right about the story, but the production sucks. It's like someone was in a rush to get it out or something. It's going to take me a year again.

Oh! I failed to let you know the cd came - thank you :D I'm going to have a good blues day tomorrow and listen.

I hope you enjoy it. I annoyed the hell out of MWNN yesterday by playing it really loudly on my PC as I worked. He said he could hear the noise from his study.

I've not seen any of the show but I like the icons

Thanks. I tracked down a good source of screencaps and played.

Doing that on the ice is a game misconduct penalty in the National Hockey League. It's considered very unsporting to misuse the power of one's stick like that in a game...
9th-Apr-2007 10:11 am (UTC)
Hee! Not that we've ever seen hockey players mis-using their sticks in quite the same way, but I'll let you be the one to tell Harry.

Cool icons! Taking #5 and the show is getting better and better each week.

Thanks.

Let's hope it goes to a second Season and the DVD comes out soon.

Are you not downloading the episodes?

I've only got one of the audio books and I have to say I hate the fact there are mistakes in pronunciations from one minute to the next, and the levels of the recording fluctuate, I've given up listening (much as I enjoy listening to James voice). Having worked in BBC Radio Drama has it's drawbacks....

I like your icons!

I'm not allowed download the eps. MWNN's wi-fi signal is weak in his study and it would disappear altogether if I did that. I thought the comm might give me access to watching online.

So I'm not alone in being disappointed at the production by Buzzy? The old school chum who headed the publication team of the history of the school we attended also worked for BBC - Radio 4. She then ran her own 'books on tape' company for years, so I understand what you're talking about.

Thanks for the compliment about the icons. They're nowhere near your standard but I had fun learning how to crop the caps now that the writing Muse has departed.

I worked in Radio for about 7 years (mostly in Radio 4 and Radio 3 Drama), and the standard for the audio books is very disappointing. Just very simple things like the different pronunciations should have been picked up (one that grates for me is that one minute it's "Marcon -ey" and another it's "Mar-cone").

Such simple errors should have been picked up straight away by anyone who is taking notes for editing (which was one of my jobs at the Producers Assistant). It's a shame because it spoils it for me, and I loose the flow of the story.

I much prefer reading them.

Me too. I've just finshed White Night.

Did you come across Frances Ratchford when you worked at Radio 4?
9th-Apr-2007 10:31 am (UTC)
I may well have done, but I came across a lot of people, and I'm hopeless with names! LOL! I worked there from 1977-84.
9th-Apr-2007 10:42 am (UTC)
Frances would have been there at the same time. She's on the left in this photo taken at the London Book launch. She's tall (not as tall as you, but tall.) Paula Wilcox was the same year as Frances. They were both a year ahead of me. Paula arranged a guest spot for me on Woman's Hour the week before the book was published. the topic was girls' grammar schools. I'm still trying to work out how to download the 'listen again' streaming audio to save to disc.
