I'm here, after a VERY INTERESTING journey up the motorway. I drove into the rain from sunny Hertfordshire and the full storm hit at Milton Keynes and didn't let up. Speed limit of 40mph for stretches and one lorry, exceeding the limit, caused me to aquaplane on his wake. One lighting strike hit the fast lane beside me with an enormous clap of thunder. Quite an exciting journey.

My mobile phone won't work. Could be the fact that I still have the France Orange chip in there and the vodaphone one is safely lodged in its wallet - at home.

My room's on the ground floor, just off the Hub. On my way there, the first person I met inb the corridor leading from reception was The Man in the Hat himself. He's smaller than I remember. Maybe I've growed?

I've eaten the sandwich MWNN made me and had a pot of tea and was just settling down for a nap when the workmen started up in a neighbouring room. I'm in the Coffee Costa bar where the wi-fi is free and I don't have to buy anything to be here. That should mean regular updates and pics, providing the hotel doesn't work out how to charge for the wi-fi.

I thought Milton Keynes was designed to be storm-free?

Now where on earth did you hear that? Maybe the storm missed MK itself and concentrated on the M1?

I just figured, if you're going to engineer a city, you'd engineer the weather as well ...

Point.

Problem is, the engineered city has its faults, perhaps the weather is one of them?

Well, Sunnydale always seemed a bit engineered, and it's got a Hellmouth ...

Oh! And M-K has ex-Wimbledon FC! That's like hell, isn't it?

Meep. That sounds horrible.
I'm glad you're ok.
(((Hugs)))

Thanks L.

MWNN thinks skid-pad lessons are on the cards as a Christmas present.

That journey doesn't sound much like fun! *hugs*

Have a wonderful time at the con!

Thanks, C. The fun has already begun.

Ooh exciting! We only had a small drop of rain. :(

Say hello to Tezzer from the Bogwitch.

I think Hitchin is in its own little micro-climate too.

I'm still wondering if he's going to use your name in a future book . He was very taken with it.

I think the Chilterns shelter Hemel.

I'm very intrigued into how he'd manage to do that.

Well Tiffany comes from the chalklands. There's nothing to stop him introducing a character from boggier parts.

Yeah, but that's an occupation, not a name.
18th-Aug-2006 03:45 am (UTC)
Glad you made it all right. Maybe there was magic involved?

The gods certainly took care of me, that's for sure.
